To provide the Kettle & Stony Point First Nation with legal services and support that is sensitive to its unique needs. Additionally, to promote the legal best interests of the First Nation and by extension members of the community. It is a vision of the legal department to provide education regarding history of the law and the impact on the Kettle & Stony Point First Nation. In this endeavour it is a goal of the legal department to expand its capacity to look after an expanded area of legal issues and to extend, where applicable, services to the broader community.

The legal department has been in limited operation since 1993. Initially Mr. Ronald C. George acted as general counsel. Later Mr. Jonathon C. George was appointed to the role of legal counsel. In 2012 Ronald C. George was again appointed to the office.
